ORIGINAL YOUTUBE DESCRIPTION: A live interview with Black business developer Joy Lynch on why financial literacy matters, as well as Black Wall Street and the Legacy of Black Entrepreneurship: Why It Still Matters Today and How Black Entrepreneurship plays a powerful role in uplifting and transforming our communities.

FIRST THOUGHT OF THE EPISODE IDEA: Over the past decade teaching young people Financial Literacy has become an increasingly important focus in high school. Equipping them with the skills necessary to carve out a semi if not altogether completely prosperous existence is at the heart of these actions. Yet, most Financial Literacy courses treat the topic independent from group life experience, this is corrected for today’s conversation. A history steeped in financial deprivation is the subtle note captured in this conversation. Early on an acknowledgement is given to the fact that many African Diasporants in the United States (African-Americans) are lacking basic financial management, preparation and planning skills thus the need to learn, implement and strategize for long term success is necessary. Hitting a number of grassroots financial topics including expanding on the Caribbean sharing strategy previously discussed by Dr. T’Shaka; the conversation serves as a great starting point for anyone interested in the topic who also values expertise and historical contextualization.
