ORIGINAL YOUTUBE DESCRIPTION: The eleventh Dr. Oba T’Shaka Show the second, of a three part series of conversations with the esteemed activist scholar Dr. Akinyele Umoja, on the topic of his book, We Will Shoot Back; Armed Resistance in the Mississippi Freedom Movement.

FIRST THOUGHTS OF THE EPISODE IDEA: We are a community; we were closer before we tried to integrate into this society, by doing so we lost some cohesiveness but now that this society is kicking us out that process, we will find that cohesiveness once again and we will be closer then we were in those times. Here is the message that underlines this entire interview. Like Part 1, this show is overstuffed with factoids, revelations and historical information so profound it is shocking it is not required viewing in colleges and universities. Further more, the spirit seemed to have been moving over this conversation as the above description says, this was supposed to be part 2 of 3, but part 3 never happened, until possibly now (more on that next week, maybe?).

On the actual content, the mood of this replay is different then last weeks first part; the back and fourth conversational style has been replaced with a more rigid structure that gives way briefly to the previous format after some time; this format change may be due to time constraints, nonetheless, the information presented is still mind blowing. The important role of lodge formations and true Black secret societies leads to a broader discussion on Black leadership in the movement and that leaderships response to how the white community responded to our communities call for justice, desegregation and dignity. These strands are bound together by a truth that goes unstated till the end of the livestream. That truth being, these formations and stories provide a glimpse into what our people are capable of and what we must now do to proceed into the future unabated by harm as this dying empire crumbles away, a death that may lead to the dissolution of the United States of America. If this dissolution happens, what will we do as a community when the hoards of our foreparents enslavers come back towards with hopes of subjugating us to their will – the answer is easy. . . . .
